Pierre-Joseph Proudhon (1809-1865) was a French philosopher and socialist, known as the “father of anarchism” and for his famous assertion that “property is theft.”

Despite these challenges, he showed intellectual promise and won a scholarship to study in Paris, where he developed a passion for learning and literature.
