Most people think Valentine’s Day is about candy, roses, and romance.
But long before heart-shaped boxes and greeting cards, mid-February was marked by something far older… and far darker.
Before it was “St. Valentine’s Day,” the Romans celebrated Lupercalia, a pagan fertility and purification festival held on February 15.
Priests known as the Luperci would sacrifice goats for fertility and dogs for purification. Yes dogs. The animals were killed as offerings. The priests would smear their foreheads with the blood and then wipe it off with milk as part of the ritual cleansing.
After the sacrifice, they cut strips of goat hide, dipped them in blood, and ran through the streets lightly striking women. Many women welcomed this because it was believed to increase fertility and ease childbirth.
Blood. Milk. Sacrifice. Fertility rites.
Even the colors we associate with Valentine’s Day today red and white scream this ritual. Red symbolized blood. White symbolized the milk used in purification.
That is the foundation this holiday was built on.
RED AND WHITE = 666 IN SUMERIAN GEMATRIA

Now ask yourself why Santa wears red and white.
SANTA
Rearranged becomes
SATAN
And what colors does Santa wear? Red and white. And when you trace those colors back, it leads you straight to the Vatican. You know all these American holidays have dark, satanic origins, and for every person who reads this, it breaks the spell and it no longer holds power over them.
Most people never question symbols. They accept what they are shown and move on. But those who understand the language of numbers and patterns begin to notice repetition.
Red and white equals 666 in Sumerian Gematria.
Santa rearranges to Satan.
Coincidence? Maybe.
Symbolism? Possibly.
The point is awareness.
Most of humanity moves through life without examining the code behind the imagery. A few people see the pattern.
Now let’s talk about Cupid.
The chubby baby with wings did not start as an innocent cartoon.
Cupid comes from the Greek god Eros, a powerful force of desire. In early Greek myth, Eros was not a baby he was a primordial cosmic force who could overpower gods and men alike.
Later traditions say he was the son of Venus (Aphrodite), goddess of sex and beauty, and Mars (Ares), god of war. Think about that symbolism: love born from sex and war.
He carried two types of arrows:
• Golden arrows that caused uncontrollable desire
• Lead arrows that caused hatred and disgust
This was not harmless romance. This was manipulation of will and emotion.
His famous story with Psyche represents the union of body and soul, but it also shows love as a test, a trial, and a transformation through suffering.
And what about the heart symbol?
The heart shape we use today does not resemble the human heart.
One strong theory traces it back to an ancient North African plant called silphium. This plant was used as both an aphrodisiac and a contraceptive. Its seed pod was heart-shaped and appeared on ancient coins.
In other words, the heart symbol may have originally represented sex and birth control long before it represented Hallmark romance.
So where does Christianity come in?
Around 494 A.D., Pope Gelasius I outlawed Lupercalia as part of the broader suppression of pagan rituals. February 14 became associated with St. Valentine, a martyred priest.
The modern holiday is a blend of:
• Ancient pagan fertility rites
• Modern commercial marketing
Now here’s something else to consider.
Lupercalia involved the ritual sacrifice of dogs.
Today, do something simple.
Go to Google.
Type the word “dogs.”

Look at how many dog stories are circulating right now.
I’m not telling you what to think. I’m telling you to observe patterns.
Ancient rituals never truly disappear. They evolve. They rebrand. They modernize.
Symbols matter. Dates matter. Ritual timing matters.
Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, understanding its layers changes how you see it.
Love has always been tied to power, fertility, blood, sacrifice, and symbolism.
Nothing is ever just candy and roses.
